Aim of the conference - creating the opportunity to present views, opinions and experiences of both academics and people involved in the practical sphere of action of various forms of cooperatives, including cooperatives based on social economy in different parts of the world. The conference also attempts to compare the actual development of a cooperative system in terms of the type of economy (such as market, socio-market and non-market being a in connection with the economy), and its cultural background and political at the local, regional, and international levels. A separate part is devoted to the reflection on local traditions and their positive and negative influence on the current condition of the cooperatives - a look at old certificate companies embedded in their environment.
During the two-day conference lectures will be given by eminent representatives of the scientific community, who deal with issues of cooperative. Speeches made by leading will be provided as well, along with panel discussions and plenary discussion. We hope that our conference will have a significant impact on the contemporary discourse on the role of cooperative activities in the lives of economically weaker sections of society.

Amidst a number of topics that might become of interest to the participants of the conference, such types of cooperatives can be found as housing, dairy and work cooperatives, all of which are presented from historical, theoretical points of view and from the way contemporary cooperatives are developing.

Ladies and Gentlemen!
On 18th December, 2009 the UN General Assembly by resolution A/RES/64/136 declared a year 2012 to be the International Year of Cooperatives. Hence The Institute for Social and Humanities at PWSIiP in Łomża is organizing an international conference "Diversity of cooperative movement in the world. Tradition and modernity”, in order to honour the year of cooperative movements.
