Guests from the Kyrgyz Republic
Between May 30th and June 3rd, Lomza State University of Applied Sciences had a pleasure to host 5 university professors from International Alatoo University, our partner institution from Bishkek in the Kyrgyz Republic under the scope of the Erasmus+ Programme partnership.
During the first day of the visit, our guests took part in a private screening of “Four Seasons” by Zdzisław Folga in our newly funded Culture Hall in Łomża. The film showcased the utter beauty of the Łomża Landscape Park of the Narew Valley, so visibly evident in the richness of nature. The production has made a huge impact on our Kyrgyz guests, as they had a chance to see first-hand the diversity of wildlife in its natural state. As witnessed in their reactions, the fact that such beautiful scenery can be found so close to Łomża itself made the whole visit even more special.
Our Kyrgyz guests met with the representatives from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology. It was a great chance not only to discuss further cooperation and joint projects, but also to cover the grounds of similar aspects of higher education present both in Poland and in the Kyrgyz Republic. Study programmes, the education quality were of great concerns of our guests, as all the present faculty members shared their own experiences when dealing with similar matters.
The visit was not just focused on exchanging good practices, but in three cases – on teaching. Ms. Turdukan Bekimbetova held a particularly interesting class on “Green Education Practices at Universities” for the student groups under the Management department, while Mr. Ulan Nurkasymov gave an astounding lecture on the topic of “Managerial Accounting” for different groups of Management students from the third year of studies. Additionally, the Philology department has a chance to find out more about the culture, language, and history of the Kyrgyz Republic during the lecture conducted by Ms. Aidai Kulzhabaeva.
During the mobility week, our guests had a chance to tour the University campus, including the modern technology hall with its specialized research and testing rooms, and all the technological equipment in the Automation and Robotics laboratories. Our modernized Library and Silent Study Room with computer equipment and high-speed internet access is what made a huge impact on the Kyrgyz guests. Not long after the initial tour, the International Relations Department’s staff took our guests to see the Medical Simulation Centre based on the Wiejska 16 campus, which made an impact on the guests, as well, with its high quality of equipment and life-like phantoms with real-like vitals and stats. After the tremendous tour, the group went ahead to take a look at our innovative “Rubikon” Students’ House and its number of facilities to accommodate both students and professors, and – during the summer, even for the outside residents. The quality life of Łomża is what brought our guests to visit not only popular, but also very rare places that are just as mesmerizing, if not more.
When it comes to the cooperation between our University and International Alatoo University, we are surely looking at it in long-term as four representatives from the Administration Department are planning to join our Kyrgyz friends in their own institution, back in Bishkek. We are sure it is not the end of our joint projects!
